If you live within walking distance of Grandview and Olde Wadsworth, you already know the rhythm. Second Saturday, then a slow Sunday on a patio, then a Wednesday night pour at Silver Vines. This year the rhythm changes. The library corner is fenced off, alley work is moving south block by block, and the summer's biggest stack of events lands on a single Saturday. The old "we'll figure it out when we get there" approach is going to cost you a parking spot and a table.
Here is how the next six weeks actually play out on your blocks, and where to be when.
One night is doing most of the August work
August 8 is not a normal Second Saturday. Three things collapse onto the same three blocks between 5 and 10 p.m.
- The final Second Saturdays street festival of the 2026 season, which has been running May 9, June 13, July 11, and August 8 with two stages, food trucks, and a kids' zone. The FREE series runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and promises to deliver a line-up of local bands, 50+ artisan vendors and family fun, including a dedicated Kids Zone.
- The fourth annual Olde Town Whiskey Fest, 5 to 9:30 p.m., check-in at 57th and Olde Wadsworth. Attendees pick up a commemorative tasting glass and 14 half-ounce pour tickets, then sip, stroll, and explore all evening long. Ticket proceeds support the Olde Town Arvada Business Improvement District.
- The two Second Saturdays stages, which sit in different spots than newcomers assume. The Bank Stage is located on Grandview Ave in the parking lot next to Community Banks of Colorado. The Square Stage is located in the Northwest corner of Olde Town Square.
The practical read: if you were planning to do Whiskey Fest and dinner somewhere on Grandview afterward, book the reservation before 4 p.m. or after 9 p.m. The pedestrian mall fills fast on a normal Second Saturday. This one has 14 pours of whiskey layered on top.
For anyone driving in from Scenic Heights, Candelas, or the older west side, skip the surface lots. Entry is FREE as is parking. If possible, use the RTD Olde Town Parking Hub at 5575 Vance Street, just a short block away from the Festival. It is a five-minute walk and you will not spend twenty minutes circling.
The Grandview came back, and the Barth Building corner feels different
If you have not walked into the Grandview since spring, walk in. It is not the same restaurant. Chef Jeremy Wolgamott took over the Grandview Tavern & Grill, which is housed in a historic building at 7427 Grandview Avenue in Olde Town Arvada, and he brought a Southern menu with him. In late 2024, chef Jeremy Wolgamott stepped away from his role as executive chef at Bistro Vendôme to pursue his dream of opening his own spot that focused on Southern cuisine.
The building is worth naming, because the interior renovation is genuinely something to look at. The Grandview sits inside the historic Barth Building in Olde Town, a late-19th-century structure that has served as a neighborhood gathering spot for decades. The latest renovation keeps the tavern's original bones intact, including exposed brick and tin ceilings, while shifting the food and service toward shareable Southern plates. The $20 hot plate lunch special runs until 3 p.m., which is a genuinely useful weekday routine to know about if you work from home a few blocks off Grandview.
Wolgamott's own line about the location tells you something about how Olde Town feels to people who live here. "After looking everywhere between Littleton and Boulder, I found something about a ten-minute walk from my house," he jokes. That is the Olde Town proposition compressed into one sentence: the operator lives here, walks in, and cooks.
Where the sidewalks aren't this fall
Two overlapping projects will shape how you move through Olde Town from August through the end of the year. Neither is a reason to avoid the district. Both are a reason to change the block you park on.

Sidewalk closed in front of the library beginning as soon as March 23, 2026 through early 2027, with alley closures between Olde Wadsworth and Yukon progressing from Ralston Road south to Grandview Ave.
The alley closures matter more than they sound like they matter. If you usually cut through from the Yukon side to reach the Grandview or School House back entrances, that path is going to disappear in stretches as crews move south. Walk the front. If you bike, use Ralston Creek Trail and lock up at the RTD hub rather than threading the alleys.
After Second Saturdays ends, the calendar pivots to September
Once August 8 wraps, the free street-festival programming is done for the year. The next big date on the pedestrian mall is the Olde Town Shindig on September 12, running noon to 8 p.m. per the district's event listings. It is the last outdoor block-scale event before the calendar rolls toward Trick or Treat Street on October 30.
Between those two, the live music worth planning around moves off the main square and into the venues. A few worth knowing if you are new to the neighborhood or have not updated your rotation in a while:
- School House Kitchen & Libations, in a converted historic schoolhouse, hosts a monthly Patio Sessions series on third Wednesdays plus an Open Mic Night on second Thursdays, with a whiskey list that runs deep. School House Kitchen advertises 2000+ whiskeys and a rooftop patio.
- Silver Vines Winery on Grandview runs live music through the summer inside a small storefront winery.
- Flights Wine Cafe at 7714 Grandview does Saturday-night live music on a dog-friendly patio.
- Rockabillies stays on the calendar with local acts through August, including Krank Daddies on Aug 13, a Summer Cruise Night car show on Jul 25, and Big Muddy on Aug 28.
- Freedom Street Social, technically a short walk west of the historic district, has Saturday-night live music and hosts the Elevate Markets summer series on fourth Sundays.
- The Arvada Center outdoor amphitheater has Andy Grammer with Walk Off The Earth booked for August 4, if you want a larger-scale night without leaving Arvada.
The point of listing these is not to be exhaustive. It is to make one specific claim: on a Wednesday or Thursday in late August, when the street festivals are over and the tourists have moved on, Olde Town still has four live-music options inside a ten-minute walk of each other. That is not true of most Denver-metro downtowns of this size.
A resident's actual plan for the next six weeks
If you want a working shortlist rather than a bookmarked calendar:
Aug 8: Whiskey Fest check-in at 5 p.m., Bank Stage set, dinner reservation held for 9:15 p.m. or later. Aug 19 (third Wed): Patio Sessions at School House. Aug 28: Big Muddy at Rockabillies, or a bottle at Silver Vines if you want quieter. Sept 12: Shindig, noon start, walk in from the RTD hub.
Two working assumptions to hold: the alley you used to cut through may be closed, and any restaurant on Grandview is going to be tighter than usual on Second Saturday. Everything else is the Olde Town you already know, running about as well as it ever has.
